Why connecting Instagram matters
It does two jobs. Live, it puts your follower count on screen and celebrates when it moves, which makes people watch it. Afterwards, it shows you what one night did for your following. Without it, you are guessing from a monthly total.
What is and is not measured
We count some things precisely, some roughly, and some not at all. The stats page tells you which is which. One number you cannot trust is worse than no number at all.
What this is not
