These docs use each of these words one way throughout. Where two things sound similar, the entry says which is which.

Terms

the display
The fullscreen page the room sees while you play.Not the editor you change it in.
Display settings
The page where you change how the display looks, with a live preview beside it.
launch
Opening the real display from the settings page.
your DJ display
The display tied to your own account, with your branding. Every account has one.
the house screen
A venue’s own display, with the venue’s branding. What runs when nothing else is on.
the open decks screen
The display that runs an open decks night — who is playing, how long they have left, who is next.
a numbered screen
An extra venue screen for another room, with its own QR code and its own page.
link page
The short page your QR code points at, built for someone standing up in a dark room.Not your DJ profile.
DJ profile
The longer public page, for someone deciding whether to book you.Not your link page, and not your account settings.
venue page
A room’s public page — address, photos, what is in the booth.
handle
The name in your web address. You can hold one as a DJ and one for a venue.Not your on-screen name, which can be anything, and not your username on a payment app.
open decks night
A night where DJs claim a slot and play. Lowercase, two words.
slot
One playable window in a night.
claim
Taking something for yourself: a handle, a free venue page, or a slot on a night.Claiming a slot is not a booking — nothing is agreed beyond the slot.
roster
The list of DJs a venue works with. One list across every night.
invite
A venue asking a DJ to join its roster.
request
A DJ asking to join a venue’s roster. The opposite direction from an invite.
night report
The summary a venue gets after a night ends.
recap
The summary a DJ gets after their set. The DJ-side counterpart of a night report.
gig
A night you ran a display for long enough to count. Feeds your stats and your profile.
set
A slot you played at an open decks night.
tip
Money a listener sends you directly through your own payment app.
trial
The free run of the top DJ plan that every new account starts on.Not something you sign up for — it is already running when you arrive.
watermark
The small “Powered by Hype Display” mark that appears on a free screen.
plan
What you pay for. You have one for the DJ side and one for the venue side.We do not call these tiers, levels or packages.
email code
The four-digit number we email you to sign in. There are no passwords.
