A plain summary of what is visible to whom. For the formal version, see the privacy policy.

What is public

Only what you publish, and only once you have published it.

  • Your link page, once you have claimed a handle.
  • Your DJ profile, once you turn publishing on.
  • Your venue page, if you set it to public.
  • The measured stats you have individually switched on.
  • Your name on a night’s lineup, once you claim a slot.
Your email address is never shown on any public page. A booking enquiry reaches you without the sender seeing your address first.

What stays private

  • Your email address and how you sign in.
  • Your billing details, which Stripe holds rather than us.
  • Booking enquiries sent to you.
  • Anything on an unpublished profile or an unlisted venue page.

Between venues and DJs

A venue’s notes stay with the venue. Grades and notes on a roster are private to that venue. No DJ ever sees theirs, and they never appear on a public page.

A DJ sees only their own side. Which venues they are on, and their own sets. Never another DJ’s standing at that venue.

Invitations reveal nothing. A venue inviting someone by email cannot tell whether that person already has an account, because both cases look identical.

What Instagram shares

If you connect Instagram, we receive your handle and your follower count. That is the entire list. We cannot read messages, cannot post, and cannot see who follows you — no permission exists that would allow it.

Disconnect at any time from the same card you connected on, or remove Hype Display from Instagram’s own apps settings. Either has the same effect.

Photos

We re-encode photos when you upload them, which strips out the location data phones attach. Uploading a picture never publishes where it was taken.

Deleting your account

There is a delete option at the bottom of Account. It removes your account, your pages and your settings.

Deleting is permanent and there is no undo. If you only want to disappear for a while, unpublish your profile and set your venue page to private instead. Both of those are reversible.

Records that belong to someone else stay with them — a venue keeps its own night reports, for instance. We remove your name from anything public.
